Males and females look similar.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Habitat:<\/strong> The <strong>highest-living bird on Earth<\/strong> \u2013 rocky mountain slopes between 3,000\u20136,000 meters (up to 19,700 feet). In summer, found as high as 8,000 meters (26,200 feet).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Where found:<\/strong> High mountains of southern Eurasia \u2013 Caucasus, Himalayas, Tibetan Plateau, Altai Mountains, and western China.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Five species:<\/strong> Himalayan, Tibetan, Altai, Caucasian, and Caspian snowcock.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Diet:<\/strong> Mostly herbivorous \u2013 leaves, shoots, berries, seeds. Eats some insects.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Behavior:<\/strong> Lives in small flocks (10\u201320 birds). Diurnal (active by day). Posts <strong>sentry<\/strong> lookouts that scream an alarm call at danger.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Flight:<\/strong> Poor flier \u2013 runs uphill, launches, and glides down.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Lifespan:<\/strong> Unknown in wild, likely 5\u201310 years.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Conservation status:<\/strong> <strong>Least Concern<\/strong> (most species).
